The perfect patio weather happening lately here at Yalo South has gotten us even more excited about a couple work-in-progress projects for our client, Arcadia. The company designs and manufactures high-end, automated custom pergolas for patios from Mom’s house (our inside reference to one of the most gorgeous residential shots we’ve been working with) to commercial spaces including hotels, restaurants, country clubs and more. As a follow up to the lookbook we created for them last year, Yalo has been working on a new website and a VR experience, as well as an ad for Ocean Home magazine to help them showcase their products to homeowners, businesses, architects & designers and even potential dealers.

The site, which will provide a more in-depth view of the company and its products, incorporates several interactive features to engage prospective customers while explaining product features and showcasing designs. A 360° VR experience gives prospective customers the feeling of being under one of Arcadia’s pergolas while learning about the product and even controling it a bit. Meanwhile, multiple interactive galleries serve up more eye candy for inspiration. Watch this space for a full case study when it all launches (soon!) and while you’re waiting, get out there and find yourself a gorgeous patio!

Metalogix is a software solutions provider that helps clients move, manage and protect their content that lives within and around Microsoft products. With a tech-savvy clientele, they needed to show the world their brand is as innovative as the tech solutions they create. But they also wanted to find a way to stand out from the cold landscape of tech brands and show their more human side, as well.

With new branding in place, we helped the company develop a new website that reflects their more colorful new look and incorporates responsive design and a CMS that help it function as impressively as it looks. But there’s more. Metalogix wanted to unveil its sleek new look in front of potential clients in a big way.

We launched the site at the opening of Microsoft’s Ignite conference in Atlanta, where Metalogix planned to have a presence. That presence included a booth we designed that incorporated their new look and feel, with the addition of some inspiring photography and organic touches (yes, plants at a trade show!) that helped to humanize the brand.
And to show off their work hard/play hard attitude, we helped them turn up the heat on their annual party at the conference. We branded the event MetaFest and closed a major downtown street to host a block party for 2,500 customers and prospects, spanning 4 restaurants serving up drinks and food. Outside, guests could play games, check out the chalk artist or just network to the soundtrack of 3 bands. Meanwhile, VIP guests were treated to rooftop cocktails at one of the venues into the wee hours while internationally-known DJ, Sam Feldt shook the earth.
The coordinated efforts to introduce the new website, conference presence and MetaFest party were a huge hit with both internal stakeholders and customers. And we hear guests are already trying to lock down their MetaFest invitations for next year.

This global provider of comprehensive business management software for law and other professional services firms wanted to overhaul its digital presence for its biggest conference of the year. The catch: that conference was just six weeks away.

We designed and developed a new, responsive WordPress site that hit Aderant’s audience with a modern look and UX best practices. The fresh, sleek look drove their story and solution ahead of their competition and made a big impact on their audience at the conference. Visual design, custom icon assets and behaviors throughout the site created a better user experience for navigating their broad product offering.

That six-week deadline? Killed it. Without missing a beat, we rolled right into Phase 2, which transferred their Think Tank blog into the new visual experience with filtering options that would make the most relevant content easily accessible to their audience.

This provider of integrated communication and collaboration solutions allows productive people to work together, no matter where they are. Unfortunately, getting the word out to those productive people was, at times, a little like a game of telephone. Star2Star needed help creating and executing on a new customer journey that would attract prospects and turn them into customers more efficiently and effectively.

We thoroughly researched our client’s offerings and their competitors’ in order to develop strong messaging that would stand out and determined that a keyword-based ad campaign was the most effective way to spread that message. Then we created a fully-integrated experience that led prospects from both search and display PPC ads carrying direct, keyword-based messaging to a new site that allowed them to convert easily. The site’s original design enabled multiple personas to self-identify and thus, fast-track them directly to the content the is most relevant to them. The consistent, relevant messaging and impactful, intuitive design that carried throughout this customer journey were a huge hit.
The messaging and media strategies we implemented, along with effective ad creative, reduced Star2Star’s PPC spend by 80%, while increasing site traffic by 315% and conversions by 400%.

Digital is hot, hip and now. Everyone’s doing it! And if you’re NOT doing it, where have you been hiding for the past decade and a half or so?!! As a Cleveland web design agency, the Yalo team loves seeing what other designers have designed and built to manifest a company’s digital persona – in other words, their websites! We have no problem celebrating the excellence and skills of others in the web design world because, frankly, there’s a LOT of work to go around.
In this post, we’ll be highlighting some great website designs for Cleveland-based companies. See what YOU think about American Greetings, Great Lakes Brewing Company, and Progressive Insurance – giants of industry in the Cleveland area and pretty famous nationally as well.
American Greetings

For more than 100 years, American Greetings has been the go-to company for meaningful and caring cards, gifts and party supplies for every holiday and occasion.
The company’s digital persona is colorful and seasonal. What’s great about their website in Yalo’s mind is their stand-out photography, attention-grabbing headlines and sub-headlines – strong copy-writing! They also have that classic website design look – perfect for the company they have grown to be in a market where they want to relate to every demographic. Why not present a design that users are comfortable with? Another standout about American Greetings’ website is that they are promoting what is trendy and technology-driven these days – environmentally friendly and super-convenient Ecards! It’s always good to see a business that knows how to tap into current market desires and to hype what is popular and “hot” with consumers.
Great Lakes Brewing Company

The Great Lakes Brewing Company is an Ohio, Cleveland-based company that was started by two Irish brothers in the late 1980s. It offers a sophisticated, diverse selection of craft beer with a focus on celebrating the abundance of the Great Lakes region in every bottle.
As a web design company, we think it is very important for companies to keep consistent themes in all their branding. Great Lakes Brewing Company does a great job with this through their colors, typography and images. They excel at creating images with a consistent artful style that have meaning beyond the face-value of the images – usually historic in nature. When you visit their site you instantly recognize the brand. GLBC has fun with their products and their customers’ tastes by presenting imagery that introduces new, limited-edition, and brand-standard beers. Their new, year-round Great Lakes IPA – a popular American IPA – recognizes the company’s independence and employee ownership, for example. Great Lakes also mentions in their banner slider about delivery service – a timely bit of marketing when their facilities are closed to visitors.
Progressive Insurance

Progressive is an insurance company that was started in 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio and has a long and storied history that is very …. well, progressive. The company even has an impressive art collection and curatorial staff that takes the artwork on the road to their various offices for displays and educational lectures. Progressive provides peace-of-mind and protection for vehicle, property, finance, personal and commercial claims. Their objective as a company is to sell you on their services and overall affordability.
Progressive’s website does a great job in showcasing qualities that customers care about when it comes to insurance policies – savings, support and customer trust. What we like about their website is that they make finding specific types of insurance – say motorcycle, condominium or recreational vehicle – very easy via graphic icons right on the Home page. The process of getting a quote for each type of insurance is quite simple – in our industry we call this User Experience or UX, a set of best practices and tactics that help site visitors to enjoy their experience on a website. Bad UX leads to visitors abandoning a website before any kind of engagement transpires – NOT GOOD if you want to be successful.
We’re also delighted as a Cleveland marketing agency at the genius of their marketing “mascot,” the comedic Flo. The company has basically rewritten the rules about marketing for what was once considered too serious a topic for humor in advertising – insurance. Ongoing gags, visual puns, even a faux musical on ice – Progressive has set the bar high with this advertising gimmick and many other insurance companies are now following suit and trying humorous ad campaigns to keep up. Go, Flo, go!
So that’s Yalo’s micro-tour of some great website designs and campaigns for Cleveland, Ohio companies. As a Cleveland web design company, Yalo is always checking-out local companies’ websites to drive inspiration in OUR house. We believe success comes from feeding off each other, learning from each other, improving upon what has come before. Art is rarely created in a vacuum.

Breakthru Beverage (formerly Premier Beverage) is the result of a merger of two wine and spirits distributors, creating the largest one in Florida. To announce the new company and promote its new state-of-the-art training center, they needed some powerful communication pieces to spread the news.

Working closely with stakeholders, developed a comprehensive “who we are” sales presentation to tell the new company’s story. We also developed a concept for a video series for social media that features their head mixologist, Nick Nistico, doing what he does best: mixing drinks and sharing his tips behind the training center’s amazing new bar. Live action combined with historical clips, graphics, music, SFX and voiceover showcase the brand’s cache and expertise.
