Hissho was already changing expectations of grab-and-go sushi with expert chefs, restaurant-quality ingredients and a growing retail presence. Yalo helped the brand experience catch up by connecting research, identity, digital, retail and experience into one cohesive system.
A fresh product with a fragmented brand experience
Hissho had a strong product and a strong retail model. What it lacked was a modern consumer brand system that could explain the difference, scale nationally and work for shoppers and retail partners at the same time. Restaurant-quality sushi, responsible sourcing and chef craft were not breaking through. The site was hard to manage, technically limited and light on analytics. Website, retail, packaging, trade and sales materials needed to feel like one brand.
What consumers value
Yalo used customer research and concept testing to find the emotional middle ground: premium enough to feel special, approachable enough for any day of the week. “No Special Occasion Necessary.” “Naturally Delicious. Responsibly Sourced.” Research shaped the language, visual direction and applications before the system scaled.
A brand people could recognize anywhere
We translated the strategy into a flexible visual system built for appetite appeal and real-world retail: a new company identity, photography direction, packaging, signage and kiosks, uniforms, sales collateral and trade-show graphics.
The brand’s digital home
The new mobile-led site gave Hissho a destination to tell the product story, help people find it and build an owned relationship beyond the grocery aisle. The platform brought together products and nutrition, national location discovery, brand storytelling and photography, a technical SEO foundation, CMS publishing and analytics.
Connect screen to shelf
Hissho’s checkout happened in grocery stores, so digital discovery had to connect to the in-store moment. Social, POS, packaging, kiosk concepts and location discovery made every step feel like one brand.
A consistent story in person
Yalo extended the system into the moments where retailers, prospects and consumers experienced Hissho in person: trade-show environments, prospecting mailers, retail launch signage, chef jackets and bandanas, kiosk concepts and product sampling.
The outcome
Hissho moved from a collection of marketing assets to a connected consumer brand system, with a clearer story, a stronger digital home and a toolkit built to scale across retail. The work established premium, approachable positioning, a mobile-first digital home, continuity from screen to shelf, analytics and behavior signals, and a reusable brand and content system.
